Rail-heavy itineraries rarely stay inside one country. The question is whether to buy a plan per stop or a single regional plan that follows you across borders.
Count your stops, not your days
Two countries with a long stay in each can work well as two country plans. Three or more stops, or short hops, usually favour a regional plan: one installation, one profile, no switching while you are travelling.
Check the coverage list, not the region name
Regional plans list the countries they cover on the plan page. Read that list against your actual itinerary — including any stopovers — before you buy.
Spanning several regions
If your trip crosses more than one region, compare the worldwide plans as well. They are built for itineraries that a single regional plan cannot cover.
